colour in composition
“colour in composition” investigates how photography can destabilise the relationship between object, surface, and perception.. the series is built from a fixed set of sculptural forms that always remain the same colour, while only the surrounding colours change from image to image. through these subtle shifts, the shapes begin to transform visually, appearing heavier, flatter, brighter, or more distant depending on their chromatic surroundings.
inspired by josef albers’ studies on colour interaction, the works explore how colour itself constructs space and perception. although the physical objects remain unchanged, photography allows the compositions to continuously reconfigure themselves, moving between flatness and depth, object and illusion. the images become less about documenting a sculpture and more about observing how colour alters the way forms are understood.
